Release the Beast - Phase 4 Week 2 Day 4
Exactly three weeks from today, and at the time I'm drafting this blog today, I will be in the air on a United flight, half way across the States heading towards Las Vegas. This will be my first time in Sin City; and I have to admit, I'm quite stoked with the idea of getting away and getting crazy, albeit, not quite like the Hangover movie.
I've been 'maintaining' my weight steady now for about a month. I haven't been super strict on the diet; but I haven't lost control of it either. I think my body is quite happy where it is at the moment. I did manage to weigh myself on Monday past - and I noticed a definite 2 pound loss. What this means is, I have 8 pounds to go until I reach the end of my first Spiral of "Fatty's Gotta Lose Forty Pounds."
My upper body is starting to fill out - I love that nice chest shelf, thicker delts, it's all good. I put on a shirt yesterday, that I wore in the previous week, and it was super tight on my arms and shoulders - so, I had to pull it up over the bicep. Yeah, you know I was smiling.
I've been really working on strengthening my core - and I recognize the core is more than just the abdominal muscles. So, I've been treating the body as a functional unit. As I've previously blogged, I purchased, RushFit DVD set. It's a great program. I am always well spent, and soaked in perspiration when I complete a session.
At the pool, no one is a fan of the pasty. I joined a tanning studio in preparation for my Vegas trip to darken up - so, I won't blind anyone at the pool; or make some religious zealots believe they were visited by an angel, when I take of my shirt while poolside in the Nevada desert. As a person of Gaelic ancestry, I can be Pasty as I wanna Be in the winter; but fortunately, my Great-Great Grandmother on my Dad's side was Cherokee; so, like my Dad, I can darken up quite a bit in the Summer time.
I told the store manager that I didn't want to look like Nacho Cheese Flavoured Doritos, or a Kardashian. So far, so good. I'm bronzing up exactly how I want to look. I guess happiness is having no tan lines; but word to the wise - just remember moderation is the key here. It only takes a minute too long in the tanning chamber to burn one's dangly bits; and really - who enjoys that?
I am confident that I will knock my "Fatty's Gotta Lose Forty Pounds" spiral right out of the park before I head off to Vegas. And maybe, if I'm extra diligent, I'll lose an extra 7 pounds and get me down to around 210 before my vacation. That will be stellar! Keep on pressing! Lee
