Happy Today

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Life is so short. We never know what might be next for us. Debilitating injury, death, life changing events...we just have no way of knowing or preparing for what is next.

So, I decided I am going to be as healthy as I can right now and try to be happy with my life as it is RIGHT NOW!.

This doesn't mean self-improvement or working towards goals is a bad idea because they present opportunity to reflect on where we are and the kind of person we want to be.

But if every moment of every day was "I would do this if I weighed x" Or maybe when I get that new job I'll be much happier.

Be happy now, today, at this moment. With who you are and all your accomplishments and failures.

Be someone you could look up to, be kind to people and animals, have a big heart, have big dreams.

But be happy today.

I think sometimes when we are so focused on what kind of person we will be in the future we forget that the person we are now is importnat too. It can set us up to loathe that person or say unkind words to them because they don't meet our future expectations or our visions of what or who they should be.

But who we are today does matter. If it was all gone would you be happy with yourself.

I decided today that I would be...and improvements from there are just icing on my already pink funfetti cake :)

Treat every moment like it's your last, tell people you love them, run like you won't be able to tomorrow.....it does give new appreciation to life.

And thats what it's all about, living, and the journey it brings :)
