So, I'm not that new to health and fitness sites, but this is my first day here. I've been on Fitocracy for awhile, but I found it's focus too limiting for the goals I want to accomplish. Not only do I want to track my workouts and have fun doing it, but I also want to pay attention to what I eat and keep track of those small lifestyle choices that affect my health.
I'm going to start training for a half-marathon beginning May 28th. I ran a 5K earlier this year and have been running regularly since. I'm still trying to decide if I want to stop here or go for the full marathon.
I'm also going to start strength training in about a month. I'm giving myself some time to adjust to my new running schedule, so that I don't become overwhelmed and quit either one. I've found a 10-week program called Be Your Own Gym, which basically uses body weight and resistance to build muscle (which sounds like a dream compared to going to the gym and drowning in a sea of testosterone).
My long-term goal is simply to be healthy and active, and to set up habits today that I can carry out for the rest of my life. Here's to first days!
