I joined Sparkpeople over a year ago and I have obviously not followed through with the diet and exercise before. There have been a few times where I started strong, but I was feeling too good about it. It was a manic decision doomed to failure. I started up again 26 days ago and I'm feeling much better about this go around. I don't feel the need to rush through weight loss, I'm legitimately proud of all my successes (small or otherwise), and using Sparkpeople has become a habit.

This is my first blog entry on any site at any time so I'm not sure exactly what to write. My weight tracker doesn't start at my peak weight, but this year I have lost nine pounds. I'm excited to get to my goal.

My new eating habits have been tough to hold onto this week. I've been proud of myself for keeping in my range all 26 days though. That's a first. My dad had surgery last Wednesday and I was holed up in a Hospital for six hours with worry and very unhealthy cafeteria options. Eating at hospitals is a long running stress habit, so I was proud to avoid the area altogether.

I have trouble cutting down my carbs. Most of the time when I look at my nutrition report the carb section of the pie chart looks like Pacman. I just love bread-y foods.

To sum up I have been doing pretty well. Here's to continuing with that.

"...using Sparkpeople has become a habit."

And therein lies possibly the greatest key to eventual success--making something so helpful a habit.

Best of luck to you with the remainder of your journey back to health and to sanity!
