On Saturday I rode with my Team in Training buddies and covered two counties! I finished my 80 mile ride much more slowly than I would have liked. My mother-in-law was riding with me and my sister-in-law and she was having back spasms. We were stopping for her while she collected herself. She ended up sagging around the 50 mile mark, maybe sooner. My husband finally got the opportunity to ride with the group again but because he never got fitted for his bike and mechanical failures, he sagged, too. Therefore, I do not consider myself the person that finished last as a total of three teammates sagged.
It rained and I had on cotton socks (I won't do that again).
I did not bonk.
I did not dehydrate.
I tweaked my knee. It's likely I will have to take my bike in on Wednesday for a refit. It was the only part of my that hurt (and it still does). I stretched and drank fluids until I sloshed when I walked. And I SLEPT!!! Oh, my, did I sleep... about 13 hours.
Funny thing though, even though I ate, I wasn't ravenously hungry. I burned more calories than some people will consume in three days. How is that even possible?
