Do-It-Yourself Challenge Entries

Monday, May 14, 2012

I am going to post all my DIY cards on this blog. That way I have them in a blog, but don't have 80-thousand new blogs :)
My Challenge Name: Late is better than never!
My Starting Weight:236.2 lbs

Four Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. How good my size 20 Silver jeans fit - uncomfortable/bad muffin top
2. Waist -
3. Arms -
4. Thighs -

If I am going to be 100% honest with myself, the reason I am doing this challenge is because:
I want to look good when I go to Ecuador. And I'm sick of not feeling good about myself. I also want to feel hot when I see my friend Clayton again. And I want all my classmates to talk about how great I look in August.

I feel like the reason that I have not been progressing as well as I hoped I would be is because:
I used school as an excuse. I ate poorly because I was too busy.

This time, I commit to finishing my challenge because I know that:
If I want it, I have to work for it.

I'm scared of:
Failing. Being broke. Looking like a fool.

I want to:
Have confidence

But I have faith in:
My perseverence.

And THIS TIME, I will NOT quit, because THIS TIME:
I don't know why. It feels different.

My top five non-health related motivations right now are:
1. Vacation photos in two months
2. I want to feel confident
3. I want my legs not to rub and destroy all my jeans
4. I want to feel good up on my horse
5. I want to not have to pose for photos. I want to look good even in spontaneous ones.

The best way to motivate me is to:
Let me know you're with me. And we can do it. And to carve time out for myself.

The best way I can motivate myself is to:
Surround myself with positive-ness, think about that little black swimsuit and hiking up mountains.

My name is Sarah and I will rock summer 2012!!.

Assignment 4 (5/14 - 5/17)
Challenge Name:

How did you do on Assignment 3?
Didn't join until yesterday so no assignment three for me!

I confess, this weekend I ate two pieces of chocolate cake, when I should've eaten one.

BUT! I also am very proud to report that I impromptu went hiking and played softball.

So I am forgiving myself and moving forward TODAY because it is a new day.

My biggest motivation for this week is so I can set up a routine.

And I'm setting one major goal for myself this week, which is to drink 6 glasses of water per day.

Now, this week...
1. Go back and read your DIY Challenge Entry Card and the entries of two other people.
2. Motivate someone else everyday you log into sparkpeople this week.
3. Make this week about maintaining a pace, instead of going balls to the wall. Sometimes you need to just simply prove to yourself that you are moving forward by doing something every day.
4. You can only eat one craptastic thing per day. So make a decision... have a Coke or have dessert!
5. Get your heart rate up for a minimum of 15 minutes each day.
Monday - nope
Tuesday - check!
Wednesday - check!
Thursday - check!
Friday - check!
Saturday - nope
Sunday - check!

Assignment 5 (5/18-5/20)
We made it successfully through the first two weeks of the DIY Challenge! emoticon

As of 5/17, how many workouts have you completed?

What have you noticed about your mood/stress levels/sleep quality on days you worked out?
Definitively in a better bood! And I sleep better; however, I notice I have been waking up at 4am :(

Be honest with yourself, how hard are you pushing yourself in your workouts?
Really hard! I am doing some crazy intense workouts (TRX, Spin Class); but I could be pushing it more in some of my "fun" fitness activities. Like running more in tennis and softball

Be honest with yourself, what unhealthy eating habits are you finding too hard to handle right now?
I have consuming major calories without really thinking. I am pretty sure I get so hungry and then snack unhealthily while waiting for dinner.

Be honest with yourself, to have a successful diet/exercise weekend, what three excuses must you banish?
I worked out so having that brownie will be fine.
It's the weekend, I don't have to do anything.
If I don't log it, it didn't count.

What do you HOPE to do this weekend, exercise-wise?
Honestly, not much. I plan on keeping this weekend relaxing since I worked out everyday this week!

What WILL you accomplish this weekend?
Play softball sunday. Learn to catch better. Fix my broken window screens!

DIY 2.0 Assignment 6 (5/21-5/24)
Assignment Name: Late is Better than Never

What did you accomplish this weekend!?
Fixed my sink!
Played catch and definitely improved!

What is one thing you are forgiving yourself for, that you did this weekend, and how are you going to fix it?
Nothing really for me to forgive. I had planned on taking this weekend easy because I exercised every day last week after not-doing so for a while so my body deserved a break!
But I plan on having a lightly active weekend this weekend!

Can you match or surpass what you accomplished last week?

What is something you are excited about that is happening soon?
I start my new job this week and I have a friend coming to visit this weekend.

Name three things that you will use for motivation this week.
I have a busy schedule so I need to stick to my schedule or I wont get things done!
I'll wear a swimsuit for the first time this weekend!
I feel really great when I work out and want that to continue!

Name one thing you will NOT do this week.
Eat without thinking (ie - I will measure out food and not eat it out of the bag)

BONUS! See how many days you can drink NOTHING but water.
I am not going to count slim-fast as a liquid and then it's a go :)

So far, decently! I've been trying to be motivating/supportive to my sparkly friends. I worked out on Tuesday and today and have plans for tomorrow and Friday! I have been eating a bit more "craptastically" (as they say), but have managed to stay at decent calorie levels (aside from today).

I can totally identify with this statement ... "And THIS TIME, I will NOT quit, because THIS TIME: I don't know why. It feels different." When I started my journey it felt different and I knew it would be.

It's Wednesday, how are you doing with this weeks to-do list?

Your top five non-health related motivations are inspiring!
