Walking - one foot in front of the other

Monday, May 14, 2012

Now I know why I like walking so much. emoticon

One step at a time. emoticon

I just read Paths Are Made By Walking (Nipun Mehta) on the Dailygood.org It made me really think about why I like walking and what I get out of it. I realized there are things that I've never thought about before.

I don't think I could quite handle the 3 month 1000 km pilgrimage he and his wife undertook but I admire what they did and what they experienced. emoticon I wonder what type of person I really would have been if they had happened upon my doorstep. I wonder how I would have handled some of the situations they faced if I was in their shoes. All very interestingly thought provoking. emoticon

May you WALK well today. Enjoy my friends, Namaste. emoticon

Very insightful, CJ...I love walking when I'm actually out there, it's the getting out there I have a problem with. too many excuses....I must start working on this.

Great article; thanks for providing the link!

I have absolutely no doubt you could cover 1000 km in 3 months, by biting off small chunks, like eating an elephant. Whether you'd want to make a pilgrimage in which you throw yourself into the unknown, like the author did, is another matter. I have retired friends from Australia who walked the Camino de Santiago that the author mentioned, and they had a great time. However, there are many sources of information on that particular walk to help the pilgrim prepare. It sounds as if the author and his wife made their own path. That would be the "too scary" part for me.

Enjoyed this very much. A wonderful perspective he has shared from their experiences. I guess that is why I prefer walking so much compared to being in vehicles etc., You really do have to stop stop and smell the roses as well as just enjoy being..
