Today was a pretty decent mother's day! Halen made me a pretty rainbow tissue rose, which I want to hang up in my office at work because it's very beige in there - I think the rose will really pop in there.

Airin got me what I asked for - a Garmin Forerunner 405. It's a GPS watch for runs and training. I'm hoping it will help motivate me to keep up with the running, because I believe if I keep running, I will not only become stronger but I will become thinner too.

Here's the watch:

It is really big in person. I tried it out tonight - I only went for a walk because I was so full from dinner - and it's very lightweight. It tracked me via GPS very well. It really is 1.1 miles around my block. I like it a lot, and I hope it helps me to stay on track with my goals.

Because now, as I'm training for this 10K, I'm already thinking "Hey, I bet I could do a half marathon sometime..." whereas before I never considered it.

I did not track my calories till tonight - I ate what I wanted, when I wanted. I didn't do much worse than when I am trying - hahahha... We made dinner here instead of going to a restaurant, and we made bruschetta, shrimp in butter and garlic, and gnocchi in a blush sauce. For dessert, we had cake and ice cream. Oh, and I started drinking at about 9am - Airin put kahlua in my chai tea! Really good but really sweet...

So, as Boss likes to remind me "Today was fun. Today is done. Tomorrow is another one!" ~ Dr. Suess.

    I am so jealous of the Garmin. Isn't it awesome to see how expectations change since the beginning of the journey? A 10K. Who would have thunk it?

    Sounds great! My HRM doesn't have the GPS feature but it has beefed up my walk. Every time I notice my heart rate going down I speed up. I am training in the higher end of my HR. emoticon

    Congrats! The Forerunners are great, especially with the heart rate monitor.

Good luck on your 10K....and you're right, once complete, you'll be itching for a HM and maybe someday even the full 26.2!
