HOLIDAY PRIMAL CANDIED SWEET POTATOES

3-4 sweet potatoes peeled, chopped into 1" pieces, and boiled in salted water until fork-tender.
1 apple peeled, sliced into 1" pieces (Johnogolds are lovely).
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 stick or 1/4 cup butter, chopped into small pieces (about size of choc. chips)
Honey
1tsp. Cinnamon
1/4tsp. Nutmeg

Put cooked, chopped sweet taters in a buttered baking dish of your choice. Put chopped apples, walnuts, Cinnamon and Nutmeg in a small bowl and toss to coat. Sprinkle these over taters. Drop the small pieces of butter over this. Drizzle all with moderate stream of honey. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, spooning over taters and apples halfway through. Yummy. You won't even miss those marshmallow nightmares at Thanksgiving.

SODA WITHDRAW TEA

Okay; I had a major pepsi addiction...really bad. This tea helped me get over it. This is NOT the tea I drink now....I drink herbal blends now....but to get started and if you are on a budget, this will work to help break the soda habit. NOTE: This is for serious soda addicts whose bodies are accustomed to LARGE amounts of sugar. DO NOT use this otherwise and diabetics avoid this at all cost of course.

I REPEAT THIS IS FOR MAJOR SODA ADDICTS ONLY!!!

Because soda is FULL of SUGAR or CORN SYRUP, you are sugar addicted, just as I was. To start out, get a GALLON PITCHER (or re-purposed milk jug) and follow this chart:

WEEK ONE OF SODA WITHDRAW:
1 Gallon of water
2 Heaping TBLSP. of Unsweetened Instant Iced Tea (like Lipton or Nestea)
1 Cup of sugar

WEEK TWO OF SODA WITHDRAW:
1 Gallon of water
2 TBLSP. of Unsweetened Iced Tea Mix
3/4 Cup Sugar

WEEK THREE OF SODA WITHDRAW:
1 Gallon of water
2 Heaping TBLSP. of Unsweetened Iced Tea Mix
1/2 Cup Sugar

WEEK FOUR OF SODA WITHDRAW:
1 Gallon of water
2 Heaping TBLSP. of Unsweetened Iced Tea Mix
1/4 Cup Sugar

From this point on, you can adjust to lower sugar, switch to honey or agave, or cut it out all together. I switched to herbal blends and honey or agave as needed. I make my own custom herbal iced tea now. The above is just to get you to the point that you can kick soda and never look back. Your tastes will adjust. NOTE: The above only works if you are cutting out most/all sugar elsewhere in your diet. This is simply how I got off pepsi IN ADDITION to not eating sugar elsewhere in my diet whenever possible.

My vice was sweet tea. One gallon a day. I quit it cold turkey. Well I tried sweetner for like one glass. Nasty. Would rather drink it plain. And after a few glasses of that, just decided I would rather drink water :)

Kudos to you for kicking the pop!
