Mother's Day
When : Second Sunday in May
Everybody has a mother and absolutely no one is more special than mom. Sure, dad is really important. And, grandparent's too. But moms, well they are just the greatest. Often taken for granted, they are always our strongest supporter. You can't do wrong in Mom's eyes. When you are hurt, or not feeling well....there is no one else that can help you more than Mom. I saw this clearly one day as our son was in the emergency room. Sure, dad was an important presence. But, the look in my son's eyes with his mom by his side was certain affirmation of mom's comforting ways, and importance.
So go out and celebrate Mother's Day. First and foremost, spend time with her. If you absolutely can not be there, take time for a long phone call. Flowers, cards, candy and gifts are all part of the day. But, mom wants some time with you far more than anything else.
Did you know? The first Mother's Day was May 10, 1908 in Philadelphia
A mother's love is something that no one can explain,
It's made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may,
For nothing can destroy it or take that love away,
It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking,
It believes beyond believing when the world condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems,
It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation,
A many splendored miracle man cannot understand,
And another wonderous evidence of God's tender guiding hand!
