I'm back! (and here's why I was gone)

Saturday, May 12, 2012

Right after New Years our dog, Chase suddenly passed away. He was only 3 years old. We had him back and forth to several vets and nobody could figure out what was wrong with him. The last vet we took him to thinks it was meningitis, but we will never really know. I won't go into the painful and heartbreaking details - I'm sure any of you pet lovers know how devastating an experience something like this is.

2 days later, my husband decided to get a new puppy thinking it would ease the pain and keep us busy to not dwell over the whole ordeal. We ended up with a 5-week old female pit bull, Lucy. Needless to say, she was (and still is) more than a handful! She's almost 5 months old now and I'm finally starting to have some "me" time again!

During this whole time (almost 5 months) I have not ran, and we've gone out to eat a few too many times. While I've still been eating mostly healthy (and still vegan!) I've managed to gain 10 pounds! Ugh. So as of yesterday, I am back on track and logging all my food, and running again. Well, at this point you can't even call it running, hehe! After an excruciating 3.5 miles yesterday, I started back on C25k today and that was much better! I'm hoping to be back up to 13.1 again soon so that I can start training for a full marathon!

So anyways, that's why I haven't been here. Next time something devastating happens, I will remember that those are the times I need support the most.

soooo glad you are back, I've missed you. emoticon about your dog, I know how truly hard that is. sounds like your new pup has kept you hopping. Looking forward to hearing some running stories as you get back into action.

P.S. I did sign up for a marathon for Spring 2013, I've had a few set backs with IT band issues, but for the moment.... I'm going strong.

hey! So sorry to hear about your pup. It's so sad when something goes wrong like that and you are so helpless to do something.

I have a 5K next Saturday and have only been logging 2.something runs for the last two months..yikes. so I feel your pain! You'll get back there!

Big hugs! Chester was dx with a pretty severe heart murmur after 3 months of coughing (holistic vet; they don't routinely listen to the heart) - but he's doing pretty well - and thankfully hasn't been coughing for several months - I was so sleep deprived!

So this winter was pretty rough, but no puppies! Thank God. Yeah, they're an awful lot of work - but so worth it in the end. Most days, anyway.

You'll be back running before you know it & those lbs will come off.

Sorry I didn't get back with you, the last couple of days have been insanely busy.

So sorry about your loss. Poor Chase :(
I have a Pit bull named Tristan, best dog ever! Really great breed if raised and treated correctly. We got him from the pound when he was three. He is my most favorite dog I ever had. Good luck with Lucy!

Welcome Back! I am a pet lover also. So sorry for your loss. Not sure what I would do without my little Chloe. She is by my side always unless she chewing on one of my flip flops. Thank goodness for Old Navy's 99 cents sale.
