One step at a time... hang in there!

Saturday, May 12, 2012

I see where I need help. I am impatient, impulsive, and stop caring when life gets tough.

It is a virtue to stick to your plans, even when things get tough. Life is not fair, and there will never be a perfect time to start.

Now is the perfect time to start. Even if you just ate a donut!

I am determined to exercise my 'NO' muscle in my head. I will tell myself this, more often than not.

I am DONE telling myself, 'I don't care', 'I'll never lose weight', 'I'll start Monday' or whatever excuse comes in my head. When did these thoughts EVER work in the past??

Every bite matters. That is why tracking is SO important. It shows YOU where YOU are. It is not for anyone else, no one is going to grade you, so be honest with yourself for once and take some responsibility. Once you determine your habits, you can start making real changes.

I woke up at 1:30 am, hungry. I prayed. I got my study book, my Diet Belk book, and my journal. I wrote what I was feeling. I studied. Then I read some of the Belk Diet book.

Then I went to sleep.

I woke up with a determination to make some small, permanent changes.

I am working on these goals, putting things in order, reminding myself of what my goals are, why I am doing this, and what I need to do (yes, this WILL take effort on MY part, get your butt in gear!) I put a photo on my phone that shows me sitting, and to remind me of what I want to change...

I now have my bike. It's the most beautiful bike I ever saw, pink, gorgeous. I am on my way, step by step...

I really find "saving" some calories and keeping ready made jello and yogurt helps me when im in an eating mode. You will find what works for you, its different for everyone.
Sorry about your dil, hope he gets better.
Are you still going for surgery?

Sorry about your fil. I hope things turn out ok for him.

I would love to see a picture of your new bike! My mom just got a 3 wheel bicycle. My dad sent me a picture of her on it. She had her sundress and hat on. She looks so cute on it!

You know your faults. How can you change them? How can you use them in your favor, not against yourself? Remember, Jehovah created us all & gave us the freedom to make choices, both small & large. If we want Jehovah's help, are we making choices that reflect that? This is not meant as criticism but food for thought. You can succeed!

Another thing that helps deter munching when you think you are hungry is to brush your teeth. (don't eat the toothpaste). That and water will help fill the belly and keep the mouth feeling fresh...easier to not fill it with foodstuffs.

SP featured an excellent blog today...written several years go. You might find it helpful. I will try to locate it for you. Hugs.

ps...so far can't find it. Wish I knew where I saw it...but she started out talking about never being able to lose the weight...then she did!

Rose you can't quit. You need to be there for your family and set a healthy example. But you know this. You will be happy when you DO this. (Think scripture). As to your fil. I am so sorry hon. I went through it with Angel (his lungs were damaged too) and I did not give myself enough "respite". Do what you can and pray when you can't. HUGS to you and your family.

Hi, I like your article and I feel the same. Especially if someone is setting next to me and asking me if I want a piece of cake etc. It is very difficult to change your eating habits.
For me it also helps, when I think I am hungry, I drink a lot of water. After that my body is full and can feel if I am really hungry or not!

Ps. my father in law is in the hospital, and not doing well... His lungs are heavily damaged, and the x-rays from even a month ago, are worse today...
