My sister phoned me on Wednesday morning to let me know that my niece's ex-husband had passed away. My niece's daughter was so upset to hear that. Don had been ill for several years, and he gradually got worse and worse. He was walking with a cane for a while, and he had a very hard time going up and down stairs. After that he had to use a motorized cart to get around or a wheel chair in the house. At the end he could hardly lift his hands to feed himself, and he could hardly speak. He told his daughter he didn't want to live like that, and that he wanted to go. He got his wish. My great niece is very upset, but at least he didn't suffer too long.

I have been spending a lot of time with my friend from church. Her husband is back trucking, and she is home alone with the kids. She gets bored being home alone, so she calls me to do something. I don't think I have been home one day this week. I have been trying to get my laundry done and my apartment cleaned, but I just haven't had time. We went to The Forks yesterday so that I could order the earrings for the necklace my dh bought me, and today she wanted to go shopping so she called me to go shopping with me. Her mother lives not far from me, so she picks me up and then goes and picks my friend up and then we go where we have to. After supper this evening she called me up and asked me what I was doing tomorrow, and she asked me if I wanted to go to the library with her and the kids. She called me back tonight and told me that the Planetarium, the Science Lab and the Manitoba Museum are all free tomorrow, because it is Manitoba's birthday. So we are going to spend the day exploring. They offer a sandwich, chips and a drink for $5.00 for lunch, so we can do that as well. It should be fun. Hopefully, I won't get home too late and I can maybe get to throw in a load of laundry and do some vacuuming before Sunday. I go to church Sunday morning, and I'm not sure what I will be doing for the rest of the day. I may end up going over to my friend's in the afternoon. Her two little girls who are 7 and 8 said they have a gift for me for Mother's Day. They have been so good to me since my dh passed away.

Tuesday is her youngest son's birthday, so I will have to go over there for that. Oh, well, at least it gives me something to do.

My thoughts and prayers for your family during this difficult time. Your friend seems to be filling a void for you as much as you are for her. I really hope you don't get tired of one another!!
