No Cookies

Friday, May 11, 2012

Today during lunch I went into the store with only one purpose.. that was to buy a box of cookies that YES!! I would have eaten the whole box this afternoon. emoticon
However, has I was standing in front of the cookies, looking at all the selections. They no longer looked good to me. I started to remember how well I have been doing on my calorie intake and that except for once this week did I have something small in a junk food area. I was thinking about how much better I have felt this past week, not so bloated and even my clothes are not as snug has they have been. I'm even have a little more energy and that is just after 2 weeks of joining SparkPeople and not quite 1 week on the Sweet tooth challenge.
All these thoughts past though my head in just moments.. and that is all it took was a moment to play the tape all the way through. I turned around and walked out of the store and found something more substantial and not as damaging to my food plan.
It was an amazing moment for me.... gives me hope that I can continue this journey.

When you do want a "cookie" (and just one or two) here is a healthy quick "cookie like" treat:

    1/3 cup dates
    2/3 cup oats
    1 banana
1-2 tsp healthy oil (I made them without, still good)
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    pinch cinnimon

mix and bake at 350, so healthy, so good (and the reicipe just makes a few)

WAY TO GO! I think it is absolutely key to not deny yourself things like cookies but rather develop a lifestyle where they are not a part of it. You have the right mindset on this one. "I can have cookies but I feel better when I don't so I'll skip it." ^5
