Cake?

Friday, May 11, 2012

I just realized this am that I haven't been thinking much about cake. It's actually been a few weeks. Except I saw a pound cake in the store the other day and I picked it up and looked at it, read the calorie count, and said to myself "do I want to wear this?", and then put it back. I am very proud of myself since cake used to be my favorite food! LOL It is funny that I don't even really crave the thing I used to want the most. Oh, the calories I have consumed eating cake! If I could take all those calories back, but alas that is not possible. At last I am finding some comfort in veggies. My sweet treat these days is a serving of skinny cow icecream. Even two servings of that doesn't equal one piece of cake. I usually drink my herbal tea with the agave nectar after meals. The sweetness of the nectar usually minimizes the cravings for other, not so healthy, things.

Well, that was my thought for the day. Anyone else care to share their thoughts on the matter of cravings. Past or present? I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks for everyone who shared their fav tea flavors with me. I think I'd like to try some of them. Esp the peppermint. Love to all, have a great day everyone! Love Joyce

My weakness has been chips always! Also things like french fries and cheese burgers. But generally I just find healthier things that I love too and that way I trick my taste buds into thinking that Im "cheating" hahahahha. Example: tonight I made a healthy BLT for diner. Compared to a cheese burger- way better for me but just as delish!!! And low fat popcorn instead of chips. For dessert, fat free no sugar added cream pop cycles! YUmmy!

I have a book that tells you what your cravings mean and sweets is feeling childlike. The rememdy they say is a pep talk from your adult inner self.
I struggled with giving up sweet treats, but found that if I started my day with a fruit salad and yogurt, often blended into a smoothie the cravings were much less. Its as if the brain knows its already had all the healthy sugar it needs.

That is great!! I can often satisfy my cravings for chocolate with fudgecicles. They are low calorie and taste yummy.

Way to go on the cake. I do the same thing and remind myself I can make a much healthier one by taking a cake mix and a 15oz can of crushed pineapple, putting them together with no other ing. and bake it and the calories are much less plus you are getting fruit in it emoticon

So happy to hear of your success! I struggle with the things my eyes see...sometimes I am fine..other times I really have a fight to get whatever it is out of my head. One thing I have learned, though, is that whatever it is that I think I want is rarely as satisfying as the craving led me to believe.

REALLY PROUD OF YOU! emoticon Keep it up! emoticon

I love Skinny Cow Ice Cream! emoticon One of my daughters says their candy bars are good also. Cake was our family's favorite dessert as our children were growing up. Give me a good, moist dark, chocolate one & I'm really tempted! emoticon
