Done with my half, now what? Well.........

I need to figure out a way to get these extra POUNDS off. I am not running another half till I get down to at least 170-175.

• Really commit to either the Primal lifestyle or Atkins, not real sure yet. I think this will work well for me.

• Read Jillian Michaels Master Your Metabolism. I have started this and everything she has said so far has really really hit home.

• Try really really hard to eat a minimum of 1700 calories a non workout days. I have been creating such a large deficit for so long that it is just not working for me. Calories in versus calories out does not hold true for me. I have noticed already that I am getting back into the not eating mindset again. Calories are not my enemy.

• Eat even more on workout days.

• Go back to lower carbs (around 100-120 net gams per day). I hate feeling all bloated from the extra carbs even if they are the healthy ones and I needed them for better race performance. Since I will be changing my workouts to more strength and slower cardio, I can get by with less carbs and force the body to use the FAT that is seems to so desperately want hang on to. But, I will try to eat a little more carbs on cardio days.

• Reduce the intensity of cardio. I am guilty of chronic cardio and need to stop. No reason to have heart rate 174 bmp for 3 hours.

• Cut back the running to 1 -2, ½ hour runs per week. Just to keep it up and maybe get a bit faster for the couple of 5K's this summer. We are NOT doing 12 races again.

• Start getting into some early am workouts before work when the sun comes up early enough, mainly walks or runs.

• Start doing more biking with hubby. He goes slower which means I have to go slower which right now is good. We are also getting a handicap bike trailer for our daughter so I can take her out too.

• The main thing I need to do it to try to do full body strength at least 2 days a week and maybe Jillian abs or NMTZ 1 day a week but whatever, I need to back off of the cardio and really concentrate on strength (thanks to Yoovie for proving this). I got to my lowest weight doing this. I also have to think of some reward for doing this consistently.

• Need to really work on training for the Warrior Dash in July which means more functional strength workouts.


Most of all, lose some freeken pounds. This is redunkidunk and it HAS TO CHANGE!!!!!!!. My husbands 25th class reunion is in less then 100 days and I want to be down to at least 180 by then with a rocken body and it’s not so much right now.

    I love jillian michaels! She is so inspiring! I just read master your metabolism and it was great. It might make you rethink Atkins though.

I listen to her podcasts too which help keep me focused and on track.

    If you are at 100-120 net carbs, what do you have as total carbs? When I drop to 140-170 range (net below 140) I get headaches. Not bad, just a dull ache like sinus. I'm doing 2 weeks at higher cal then I will cycle down again. That's what I did last fall. Things have got to get moving again or I just might go crazy!!

  I have read the book and try to follow the principles but it is har for me. I guess that is why I am still fat! Also check out Jack Kruse Leptin Reset. Some of the same ideas...

It appears that you have a very well thought out, organized plan! I'm wishing you much success on each goal!
I'm anxiously awaiting the report from Jillian's book! I started Chalene's book, but haven't finished it yet. You have encouraged me to do that...!
