Finding ways to enjoy exercise

I am still learning so much on this journey to health! I LOVE the spark challenges - they keep me ON track with exercise and nutrition goals.

My new program is going well! I follow this program 2 days a week:

When nice weather hits I want to be out in the sunshine - so when it is not pouring or under 50 degrees, I take Brute on a 10 minute morning walk on our farm. He then goes on the tree and I walk another 10 minutes. Why does he go on the tree? Walking is as good for him as it is for me, but he tore a ligament a few years back - so he is limited on how much he can walk.

I tend to come in and drink my 3rd or 4th water of the day and have lunch. Then it is off to strength train - I do one of Coach Nicole's Videos. I do a bit of cleaning in the house - or farm chores outside for about an hour... then

I do 20 minutes on my treadmill so I can at least have a better gauge of calories burned. I know that at this point my muscles are tired...but I then do 10 minutes of strength training with my X-Factor. 5 minutes upper and 5 minutes lower.

I am swimming more often - I am trying to go bi-weekly for an hour of swimming. I do not like the hour drive, but I love the freedom in swimming. Due to my ankle I will NEVER run again, but I can swim with total abandonment and freedom.

If you read my blog a few weeks ago about finding places and opportunities while I am in the city to fit in my exercise this may sound like a repeat, sorry.
I have been incorporating my workouts when I get to the city. I do not feel the pressure of worrying about HOW I am going to fit in a workout - as these drives do me IN - I am tired and crampy. The last thing I want to do after a two hour (plus) drive is workout. I take a walk with my parents when I visit. When I meet a friend for lunch I hit the walking trail after we eat. When I drive to my sisters, I hit the pool, she is 5 minutes away from the pool. When I visit my daughter who lives in the city where everything is walking distance, we walk all afternoon.

I am seeing results again in losing inches - shopping yesterday for my dress for Donny's wedding I got into a much smaller size dress - however, it did not fit as well as I would like so I did not buy it, the size in between was too big in places. I know I am probably going to buy the bigger size and have it fitted. I still have not found THE dress though.

Changing my program is part of the process - on one of my friends signatures it says something to the effect of: If you always do what you have always done - nothing will change. Something to that effect - it struck me - while I needed to JUST walk last year recovering from three surgeries this year IF I wanted CHANGE I needed to CHANGE what I have always done.

While I still do not LOVE exercise I am finding ways to enjoy it.
Jean
