Trying to get back focused on my family and fitness

Wednesday, May 09, 2012

I have been working a lot of overtime lately and my diet and exercise, not to mention my family, have been pushed to the back burner. I didn't realize just how bad it was until I actually had a night off last week and I was relaxing on the couch and I got my little girl to come lay down beside me. It hit me that I had only hugged her as I was heading out the door to work every evening. That was sad. I just had 4 days off in a row and it was nice to recharge and spend time with my family. I also bought a nice gently used elliptical off of Craigslist. The past two days I have been doing the c25k program on my iPhone and I am slowly building up minutes on my elliptical. Exercising makes me feel more energized and it is a great stress reliever for me. Working nights really can take a toil on your energy level. Even though I worked last night, I found myself not feeling as tired today when I woke up and I looked forward to my walk/jog on the treadmill. I have 3 more nights to go this week so I hope I keep this up. My beach trip is fast approaching and I can't wait to relax. We are going with my sister and her family so it will be fun times I'm sure. (and my paycheck will be deposited the day we leave to go to the beach, so all that overtime will pay off:)~

Sounds like you are doing everything that you can with all that is on your plate. Sometimes the key to this lifestyle is BALANCE and you are doing it well. I'm not sure what your schedule is like but maybe you can combine family time with exercise time? My boyfriend is willing to workout with me & I've found that it's made us closer. I also go on walks with my Mom when we decide to catch up.
