Well I joined SNAP Fitness the end of last month. I did it because it is the only club in town and if we actually go then we get most of our membership paid. Most of the time I don't think it will be that hard because of my schedule. For background I also started Zumba lessons last month after doing very little for the previous 6 months or so. Prior to that I had been doing a lot of working out and feeling pretty good about myself.
Oh how the mighty have fallen....
I knew that this wasn't going to be good but I also knew that I should face it instead of hiding from it. I needed to see how bad things were in order to have a good idea of where I am coming from and where I am going. The personal trainer at our SNAP is very good. I have seen her work miracles on people and so I trust her opinion.
I went in today and she weighed me, measured me and put me through a series of tests designed to see what condition I am in, including reading my body mass, % of body fat and flexibility. The idea is to come back after 30-60 days and have her check me to see how I am doing then. She gave me a rough plan too and showed me how to use some of the equipment that I would have never thought of using.
The bad news....out of a perfect score of 40, I am an 11!
In the kindest way she could she tried to tell me that wasn't that bad. Apparently my Body Composition is ranked as "Poor" with a body fat percentage of 40.2%. Yikes!
My flexibility which has always been pretty good in the past is at "poor".
My muscle strength is rated at "Poor" also...tragedy.
My muscle endurance was rated as "Fair" which I guess in light of the other results is nearly a cause for celebration.
Other than that my heart health was rated as "good".
My ratings were not glowing by any means. Honestly though, I didn't feel as down about it as I thought I would. I figured that I needed to know the truth and go from there. It showed that I have a lot of work to do and I already knew that.
My plan for the rest of the week is to go to Zumba tonight.
Tomorrow I will do cardio (treadmill) and Weights at the gym and Zumba at night.
Friday I work 6am-6pm and then bartend for a few hours.
Saturday 6am-6pm so I might get a little time in at the gym.
Sunday 6am-6pm work...so that might be my rest day.
Monday I am off so I will probably go to the gym and do my cardio and weights. I can't go to Zumba because my daughters concert is that night.
Tuesday I can go during the morning to the gym and do Cardio but then I have
to work that night 6pm-6am.
Wednesday I am off so I will do Cardio, weights and then Zumba at night.
That is my schedule for the week. I figure if I do that a week at a time it will help keep me on a schedule.
If all goes well I will be back in to be reassessed in 60 days to see my progress. I want to be realistic and I will be happy with progress, not only leaps and bounds by any means.
