Why we need those boundaries...

Wednesday, May 09, 2012

Remember as a child when you got your coloring books and crayons? There were pages and pages of pictures with thick black outlines showing you where to end each color. It was a way for a child to make a PRETTY picture without a lot of skill. Stay in these lines with red and you get a pretty bird. Stay in these lines with green and it becomes a man's pants, etc. The child could not possibly draw those things without the outlines.

When there were no outlines the picture became a big blob of color - sometimes slightly recognizable but mostly not.

THIS is how it is with your program here on SP. You are given "outlines". Calorie ranges, fitness suggestions, weight charts, heart rate charts, calorie counts and serving sizes, healthy recipes, accountability groups and more.

BUT you have to stay in the "outlines" or you become/stay a big blob!

It's the same!

So why not revisit your coloring book (sparkpeople) and stay in those lines!

Do you know your appropriate calorie range?
Do you know your heart rates?
Do you know the calorie count of what you are eating for lunch?

You have to know those boundaries!

You CAN do this!

Note to self... Stay within YOUR outlines otherwise you will not be a pretty picture and remain a BLOB! emoticon

Boundaries and accountability are key. I would be proud to hang my coloring on the wall these days. We all can do this if we really want to and don't give up when we color outside the lines sometimes.
