Bad back :(

Wednesday, May 09, 2012

So I injured my back over the weekend, not quite sure how...but I'm down and out. Out of work, down on the couch, out of the gym, downing muscle relaxers. Going to focus on making some healthy food choices while I'm home and immobile. I don't want to slide backwards! emoticon

Back pain is the worst...and Rachel, mine occurred suddenly like yours sounds to have. I did the see the Doc, and she took me out of work this week, I'm starting to feel less pain (the meds help), but I plan on letting it heal properly so I don't reinsure it when I start up at the gym again. Thanks for the well wises ladies!

Agreed that if you have the options and it's hurting that much, seeing a doctor about your back could be important. Sometimes the very things the body does to try to protect the injury can worsen the pain and the problem.

Take care.

I did something to my back in October of 2011. I was at school teaching my Thursday class, one of the little boys crawled under the table and would not come out. So I was bent over talking to him. When I stood up I felt a shot go through my back and I could not bend over. When I woke up the next morning I could not walk. I had to lay flat on my back for three days and my husband had to take me to the bathroom. It was horrible ! My back has not done it again since and has gotten stronger. Bless you. Take care of yourself.

Bad backs definitely need rest. They also deserve a doctors visit. I ignored mine for quite a while. The last flair up I had I spent an hour in tears because I couldn't stand, sit, lay down...nothing. At 11 pm I was a miserable pile of sobbing goo. It took about a week for it to recover and that included a chiro, PT and acupuncture, and follow up with all of them and a massage. I can manage it better now, but the week of pain didn't have to be that way if I wouldn't have ignored it in the first place.
