A quick update on my week and diabetes

Wow this has been one of the busiest weeks. We have had a team here from Asbury University that my wife and I are in charge of. They are here to help us prepare for our four upcoming summer camps for Native American Children and Youth. So that means we are with them all day long. (They are with us until next Wednesday).

In the midst of all this I had a doctor appoint 1st to have this virus/cold checked out by the doctor and 2nd find out the results of my blood work. For my cold I received a z-pack to help me finally shake this stuff. And as for my blood work I didnít get the report I had hoped for but I am pleased to see that I am still making progress with the diabetes. I am no longer a diabetic but a pre-diabetic. The doctor believes that in a matter of time Iíll be in the normal range. Then he hit me with the ďIím not saying you have to but if you would lose another 5 pounds it should be all you need to get your sugar to a normal level. Not that you have to lose any more weight you look great. But just think about itĒ Iím not sure about the 5 pounds. My weight has been staying between 165-170 and that would put me to 160-165. He also encouraged me to re-evaluate when I eat my bigger meal and to set my no food time earlier yet. So after this team returns home I am planning on trying to change up some of my meals 1st before doing the 5 pounds.

All in all, in spite of the fact that we are super busy,



itís been a great week and It's sure to be busy for the rest of the week. But I'm still sparking everywhere I go. I just wish I had more time to spark online. But that will come.

    The reason they're asking you to lose that extra 5 lbs is they've figured out diabetes is best managed when one is 5-10 lbs under weight. If you can do it, it's a good goal. They dont discuss it often because most people struggle to get to a normal weight, so what is the point? My underweight target is what I weighed right outta high school.

    You look already thing to me. . .but I'm not sure how tall you are? Great news about not being diabetic. . .You've won almost all the WL battle and look great! Praise God for you and your wife's love and support for "children" who need you to guide them in a kind Godly way. I'm really proud of you both.

    Hooray for all the progress you've made in getting and staying healthy! Is your doctor an endocrinologist? I'm not a doctor, but the idea of losing 5 lbs if you're already at a stable, healthy weight to get rid of your diabetes seems weird to me. Could you have other factors affecting your blood sugar, like blood pressure and cholesterol? If you've lost a lot of weight very recently, I wonder if your body just needs to get used to processing blood sugar/producing insulin at your healthy weight. Whatever it is, best of luck! I successfully overturned a pre-diabetes diagnosis about 5 years ago when I lost my first 30 lbs (for the first time), and I'm hoping I can help my boyfriend overturn his Type 2 diabetes, too!

    Well, hope you're feeling better by now. It might be worth considering the weight. I hit my goal of 120 in jUly 2010, But I did now get down to 100 lbs. )(4 ft. 10-1/2 in -- not much room for excess "junk in the trunk!") and that's what helped me go from diabetic to pre-diabetic to completely controlled. Just something to consider.

    Keep it up! I understand how hard it is to deal with diabetes. But it looks like you're dealing with it and not letting it deal with you! Keep us posted and have a great time with those kids.
