Mother's Day musings

Tuesday, May 08, 2012

If someone where to ask me what I would like for Mopthers Day this year I would without hesitation say low sugar Apple Butter from the Crossville Depot, sprouted bread, eggs or a Kroger card so I can get my own sprouted bread.

Flowers? Sure, but please do not get me cut flowers, look at my front yard and realize I love the ones that grow and produce flowers or vegetables. Besides, I have to go out and walk around and look at them and care for them. That is something I love to do.

My youngest son (he is 16) already has told me what he will do for me and it is truly an awesome thing. He surprised me by telling me we have a date this next weekend to go to the movies and see Dark Shadows. WOW! I did not even know he knew that was something I wanted to see. He has had to pay attention to my Facebook page. Now that in itself is a Mothers Day present that I will always remember. Yes I will remember his taking me to the movies but more the thought that he knows me! He knows ME! He thought about ME and what I would like and came up with this on his own. I am sure this is not his type of movie so this is just for ME!! WOW, am I blessed or what!? Must move on, I feel the tears beginning! :)

So, this year I would prefer something to do with the new me and not something that you think I would like. Yes I do appreciate the thoughtfulness of other gifts but I do not wear jewelry and cut flowers are nice to look at and I always love what I get but this year if you ask it will be something healthy and part of the new me.

I know exactly what you mean.
I've asked for a digital food scale or a new blender (the old one just isn't doing well...lol).
I'd rather have things that are going to help me on my journey than for them to waste money on flowers or cards.
Let me say I think it's AWESOME your 16 year old knows just what Mom wants. That shows you are raising him to listen to the woman(en) in his life & to be considerate of their wants & feelings. That's a greater thing than most can imagine. emoticon
