What a week

Monday, May 07, 2012

Whew what a week this has been. I think I have finally discovered an exercise that I am passionate about. And yes I just used the words passionate and exercise. In the same sentence lol. My new passion is bike riding. I absolutely. Love it. I can do it fir long periods of time and I always feel good after a bike ride. I have exercised like crazy this week. On top of riding my bike I have been walking too. Now that I have a good exercise routine down I want to really focus on my diet. This has always been my weak spot. I have decided that I want to eat more like the mediterranean diet. That eating style will also help me with my fruits and veggies goal. So with all of that being said I am looking forward to an awesome week. Hope every one stays positive :)

Great job Jessica! It has been a week since you posted this blog. I am anxious to hear how you are doing a week later. It is so important to find an exercise that you enjoy doing -- that is half the battle won! I too enjoy biking but can no longer do it as I live in the country too, with no safe place to even walk. I am so envious! I do a lot of walking indoors and just up and down my drive.

I am missing my emoticon !

I would love to hear more about your future diet adventures with the Mediterranean themed eating habits! I think that is a great idea! I love my fruits and veggies, I just have to buckle down on putting them in my diet 24/7.

Jessica, I remember when I was around about 37 years old I could ride my bike when my daughter was in school. I can remember how I loved it so much ,because I could listen to the birds sing and stop when I wanted to pat the horses and feed them. I can remember one white pony who always wanted attention he had big blue eyes and one day when I got off my bike to pat him I started running by the fence and he started running with me. Actually I also had a collie ,german shepard who was so smart I could teach her anything. She loved to play basketball and soccer, and expected me to spend time with her. I also would take her on walks. I even had one california buck rabbit who I could put on a harness for bunnies and walk her in my yard, and a white and black one who we called Bandit, because she would somehow get out of her cage alot. I guess what I am trying to say is I love animals and gardening and that was how I use to burn alot of calories by doing my own landscaping and gardening ,and going on bike rides. Plus if you have kids you feel the need to spend quality time with them too. I miss those good ole days. You could also find a friend to walk with you or a gym close by and swim too. There are definely lots of ways to burn calories. Now I am on my feet over 8-10 hours nightly except weekends, and I am tired on weekends, but I need to get back in the habit of walking a trail and just enjoy nature. Sometimes that is a stress releaser to just walk the creek and get my feet wet or to put my feet in sand and let the sun shine down on me. Life changes make such a difference. Think positive and do not get down on yourself. emoticon

Just keep the passion going. And don't think of a change as a diet, think of it as a lifestyle change. I am eating clean, meaning, eat no processed or packaged foods and if you can not pronounce an ingredient listed on the product, don't buy it. You eat what is closest to the earth, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains. You will find your own groove and the best of luck to you.

So glad you discovered biking! I have always enjoyed it but have no place to ride now since I live in the country with gravel roads. And I got a real scare several years ago while riding on a highway from some dudes that thought they were real cool. Fortunately I was near the house and my husband was home, so please be careful where you ride. And have fun for me, too!! emoticon

Hello! I just read an article that said that said that biking is the one exercise other than running that gives you a "runners high"

Here's the article:

tion-of-the-runners-high/

I love my bike! But I don't get to ride it because my kids hate bikes and have refused to learn how to ride. Now that they are older I have to start riding by myself!
