Week 1 was not bad at all! I jumped in with both feet and am bidding fear of commitment "good bye." I committed to this journey with GOD and I know HE wants me to see it through.
It started off with shaking off lethargy and some fear, but I got past that, and ended up accomplishing something I didn't think I'd get to until at least week 5 or 6 - I already walked the entire 2.65 mile perimeter of my walking trail!!!! I was so excited and overcome by the accomplishment that when I saw the mile marker, I couldn't stop the flow of tears and the cries of "Thank YOU JESUS" from escaping my lips. Other walkers tried not to stare, but I could see some fairly bursting with curiosity.
You see, right before I was hospitalized, nine months ago, going more than 5 yards left me dizzy and gasping for breath. And the day I was rushed to the emergency room, the five feet to the gurney was all I could manage. So I hope you understand my ecstasy at this early milestone (pun intended!) Last year, before all this drama cropped up, walking that entire circuit was a regular weekend thing, until suddenly...well you can read that story in the blog entitled "Once more, with feeling."
Anyway, that's my major accomplishment for this week. Stay tuned for more updates as the journey continues. You can also catch my daily reports on my blog: onmywheel-inmyhand.blogs
Maybe when I'm brave enough I'll post pictures. But hey, don't rush me, one hurdle at a time (LOL!)
Week one down, fifty-one to go!
