I have lost 8 lbs since I last blogged.
Although I'm very proud of myself I can't take all the credit. I was sick with allergies and really didn't feel like eating much. It's summer and I also naturally eat less. I'm not in that hibernate and eat mode.
And although I still hurt a lot. It is mostly after doing some activity I haven't been able to do in a long time, like gardening , I have the grandkids do most the heavy stuff.
We are having tomato wars. each with a tomato plant biggest plant, 1st tomato and most tomatoes will all earn a whopping 1.00 prize :)
Most the garden will be a new and general experiment. The kids picked out cucumbers, and squash to plant in a small area, We will figure out how to keep them from taking over everything as we go , lol
Has anyone ever grown a squamato or toeumber before? :)
Our or should I say the grand children's largest experiment is our potatoes, Lets see first I asked them and about 3 of their friends to dig holes for the tomatoes. They ended up with one hole big enough for a 3 year old to fit in , my 8 yr old grandson could squish himself enough to be buried in it , lol
So my brilliant idea was to use it for the potatoes. The page I read on barrel potatoes said you could use a trash can, We filled it up about a foot deep with compost and added potato starts, more compost and soil more potatoes ect. till it was almost full ... I don't think we had enough starts, so we added some extra soil and compost to the top hoping that the plants would grow through all the soil on top.
The next thing we didn't fore see has turned this into a true experiment. The kids watered their plants and the potato pit became a sink hole. :( now I have about a foot and 1/2 sink hole in the garden. My wonderful grandson decided it would be great just to add more soil and grow another plant on the top of the potatoes! wow!
He said if the potatoes all die then it will just be fertilizer for the plant on top, and if the potatoes grow when we harvest the plant on top we can dig out the potatoes :)
Sounds simple enough, lol... any ideas on what kind of plant? and Will keep you informed of experiment potato. lol
I have also managed to mow and water my lawn, plant about 30 flowers and best of all go fishing!! I don't see any hikes in my near future, but I am doing things I haven't been able to do in a very long time , even if it takes me a day or two to recupe it is well worth it. and the 8 lb loss is even more of an incentive to keep moving.
Oh yeah . I also start pool therapy next tues. I'm even excited about that :) ..
Have I mentioned .. I Love Spring :)
