Springtastic!

Monday, May 07, 2012

I come back to work today and read all my sparkfriends blogs ....and felt kind of like a slug! Everybody was out running and walking and doing fun spring things and meanwhile back at the ol' splashdog homestead....I was watching my 70 year old Dad and his friend mow my lawn. Yes, you heard me.
Apparently my dad (who lives about a mile away from me) did not like it that I hadn't mowed my lawn yet this year and showed up on my doorstep Sunday morning with weedwhacker in hand to help his pitiful daughter. Since I had literally just rolled out of bed and put the dogs out to do their business when he knocked on my door, it made me a teensy bit cranky at first. See there's these new fangled inventions called cell phones....
But I got over my snit because they did work awfully hard for a couple hours and now my yard is all pretty with it's nice short green grass and I didn't have to do it. I really don't like to mow the lawn even though it's good exercise, but I do try usually to keep up. This time I did let it go too long and it would have been a bear.
I weighed in this morning not knowing what to expect since I have been stuffing my face like crazy for two weeks before finally (sort of) getting myself under control. But it looks like I didn't do too much damage:
Start: 265.2
Today: 263.6
That is a two week weigh in since I didn't report in last week.
On a happy note...I ordered THREE new books that are continuations of series I've read in the past and I was very pleased to see them out. (I hadn't checked in a while) There was the new Mortal Instruments book by Cassandra Clare, Bitterblue, which is the next in the graceling series by Kristin Cashore (and that one was a long time coming) and lastly the new one in the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth named Insurgent. I'm very much looking forward to some excellent reading! I LOVE reading series. It gets you so involved with the characters.
Okay, that's it for me - have a wonderful Spring week!

If it makes you feel better, my yard looks like an exhibit at a museum. It's been raining so much here, it's been hard to schedule in a cut. DH finally squeezed one in yesterday afternoon
I would love to have the time to read...took a book along to my last trial and wouldn't you know that it would be the first ever that I was running non-stop.
Way to go on the weightloss!!

Michelle! You naughty girl, LOL. You need to schedule your lawn mowing for a certain day every week.
What a nice dad to come do it for you! I'm sure your neighbors really appreciated it, too. emoticon

Not too much damage??? You had a LOSS! That's SUCCESS!
