The weekend was OK
I had friday dinner at moms and she had strawberries for desert
I managed to rescue mine before she poured the sugar water syrup on them for the shortcakes
saturday was ok 3.6 miles walking in the am followed by 5 hrs of landscaping for a guy that has worse knees than me--at least he thinks so and he pays well considering.
I remembered to bring my ax because last year I removed a bunch of bushes for him.
And this year he told me he wanted to plant some trees-- yes I spent most of the time chopping roots out of the ground--I figured this because I was assured it was going to be easy digging--
I took myself to dinner for Cinco De Mayo - a two burrito meal
Then I ended up having a few (too many) beers and taking pictures of the "super moon"
with some of my neighbors. Now my phone has a bunch of pictures of a white dot and I think a few of them might be the streetlight-I'll try ti figure this out later.
Sunday I had some what of a headache in church in the morning but I used my landscaping money to invite my mom and sister over and I bought the good hot dogs (not the O Bama kind) and cooked them on the charcoal grill right after church
later for dinner they brought back two burritos from taco bell - I had to be polite and eat them
but compared to the ones from El Campisino - oh well - at least I had company
Today I had a chicken cordon blue sandwich and a little bag of chips and an apple from the grocery store deli that covered breakfast and lunch
that's when I saw them
STRAWBERRIES !!!!!!! 2 pounds for $5.00
that's what I am having for dinner right now as we type that and a couple of cookies
the cookies are my treat because I will use them as leverage not to pick tonight
I was recruited to help fill the lady locks at church for our annual food festival in june.
they make about 150 dozen and there are never any left over.
last year I had nightmares about filling cookies when we were done
back to STRAWBERRIES
Strawberries simply can not be improved --they are already sweeter than sugar
and the tartness makes chocolate taste like wax I don't know why anyone would put them any where near a chocolate fountain the only way I would process them is into jam in case I had so many strawberries that I could not eat them before they spoiled.
In fact the only thing that I think really accents them nice is a vanilla wafer cookie
or graham cracker with some milk--which plays right in to my weakness
but at least I won't be picking at the lady locks tonight.
Oh and if it is not raining I am going to walk to church and back--I don't do that on sunday because I wear good clothes to church but I can do it for baking night .
and one more thing my double secret project is almost ready for tomorrow night when I show the concept to an engineer. If they are interested it may be a career changer.
