Feeling burnt

The last week was just not for me!

Last weekend I had a great time in NY with my family, but looks like I over did it and burnt myself out!!

Starting Monday I just couldn't sleep or pry myself out of bed. Which started a coffee love affair! Needless to say I didn't sleep Monday night or get up Tuesday, or sleep Tuesday or get up on Wend! By Wend I was feeling miserable and guilty - so decided NO MORE COFFEE or CAFFEINE!

Yeah so I can't be trusted with the stuff without some rules! So I am back to a cup 2-3 times a week! LOL. Oh well this will keep it a "Special" treat, so maybe that will work.

Thursday I was running a fever - so at least this helped my figure out where some of my miserable feelings were coming from! By Friday I had written off the week as a need to just start over next week - so I gave myself a break and felt much better.

I also took off work to go purchase some new running shoes. I got a pair of Brooks (Ghost) something or others. I like them. I went to a local running shop, he kinda made fun of my reebooks talking about no support - so he wasn't a fan of natural running. Which was why I really liked my reebooks. But I have noticed now that I am getting up in mileage that my knees and shins need a bit more cushion - hence the shopping for new shoes. But we'll see.

My new shoes actually motivated me and I rolled out of bed on Saturday... not ready to go.. but at least I got out of bed.

Of course I had to wear the new shoes... oh ... and the new running belt. (Happy Birthday to me - a bit early) The running belt fits my phone in it and was very comfortable. I like it much better then the arm band I wore through.

Anyway - my ipod was dead so I streamed pandora on my droid. It was pretty cool. So I had the running app running and my pandaora and the phone handled it just fine. I made it through 5.5 miles, which was my target on my running plan. So I am still on track with my plan... but man I felt the not running at all through the rest of the week!! I am not going to do that again! Hello hip flexors, knees, shin splints, AND something going on in my ankle/ arch. I blame some of this on the milage in the new shoes... I really should of broke them in... but well new shoes... I LOVE new shoes.

I hobbled around but some aspercreme took care of most of it.

Sunday was pretty busy. We hit church, out to lunch, saw Great Grandma at the hospital who is recovering very nicely from her surgery, and then my newly minted baby sitter with a license Joy watched little sister Emma while hubby and I went to see Avengers.

See I had an ulterior motive to "treating" him with this movie. 1) he has be dying and I mean dying to see it. He is something of a fan from childhood and I've had to listen to hours of stories on characters and such since the pre-view first started. But 2) May is my month... with mother's day and my b-day so I wanted to get this over with - since I am not a fan - and I didn't want to end up seeing it for my birthday!!!! Anyway I was pleasantly surprised, it was a pretty good movie- even not being a fan - I enjoyed the story and action.

Anyway I return full of pop-corn and my son Denny and Joy want to go run!!! LOL. So I offer to walk them to the track - so we all end up going up. Emma ran 2 1/2 times around!! Pretty fast too - she is working on her milage! Although she flaps her arms up and down like a bird when she runs - it's pretty cute! Denny and Joy did great too.

So I ended up running a bit. Once around with Emma. Then Denny, Joy, and I raced a 70mm. Then Denny and I raced a 400. I told them next time we do this when I don't have a belly full of popcorn! But then we did some long-jumping and just fooling around. It was fun.

When we got home I had an attack of the shin splints! Man I hate those things. More aspercreme!

This morning - was rough but I did get up. My poor body feels pretty abused so I just did some time walking on the treadmill and on the ARC trainer. I wasn't up to weights. So we will see how it goes. I am focusing on just getting back in the habit of getting to the gym this week! It's been 2 weeks since I have been there regularly.

It might also be a good idea to find a yoga class!

  Glad you are feeling better! New shoes of any kind can throw you off, not just my barefoot ones! Hope you get back over the shinsplints soon they stink!
