Well, here I am, back on campus after 15 years! Back then it was just one week for a workshop, and this time it's for a two-week "bootcamp for the mind" - two courses for my Masters program in two weeks! Sounds gruelling but I think it will be better than taking two courses the "normal" way while working full time, as I did last semester.
The room is ok for couple weeks, but I can't imagine anybody living here for longer than that. It's much smaller than your average hotel room, with fewer amenities. Some things I've come to take for granted, like having towels or a hand dryer in the rest room - nope, bring your own towel each time. No fridge, not even in the lounge. Good thing I decided at the last minute not to bring anything that needs to be refrigerated.
On the bright side though, food isn't as bad as I had feared. There is a salad bar and reasonably priced fresh fruit, and the entrees are mix and match. Last night I had chicken parmigiani and steamed veggies - no need to be "strong" and resist the mashed potatoes or rice some helpful server has piled on my plate. If I don't ask for it, I won't get it. The grounds are very nice too, and the weather is turning out to be lovely. I'll be spending as much time outside as I can, starting now.
