Okay, now I have no choice but to get the place clean, because I just booked the carpet cleaning. I made the date for the 19th, so I have two weeks of lead time to get ready. I toyed with the idea of saving a few bucks and renting the machine, but decided it was worth the extra money to save the headache and let the pros get it right.

    Same here! But I want to start with my bedroom first but because of the bed that take too much space, I don't have much choices to transform my room, haha. Maybe I just move a little bit of the bed and some furnitures to give a little "face-lift" :D

Next attack will be the rest of the house!

    I think it's a good idea to hire someone to do the carpets. You will be happier with the outcome, have recourse if you don't think the job was well done and don't have sore knees.

    I think you made a good choice, going with pros. I tried a home machine once, and it just couldn't get out the ground-in dirt.

    You made a good choice. I tried to do it myself, and didn't operate the machine properly in the first room. I got the carpet too wet and thought it would never dry. Good luck on the cleaning and organizing. It's a constant project. Just remember, you are not your stuff. Unless it's beautiful or useful, throw it out.
