The above is what I wrote/posted pre BLC 19 for my Strong End Goals and here we are in week 2....
Where's Kal now and what is she up to? Nothing like where's Waldo....
I am notably too Type A/OCD. Is there a week to work on THAT? Little blips in my radar really throw me and that is an aspect of my personality that I REALLY need to work on adapting (note I didn't say change cuz let's face it; I think at this point in my life I'm most likely not going to change a great deal). Know what else I learned recently when reading about personality test results? Did you know that to some being Type A is a NEGATIVE? All this time I thought being Type A was a positive aspect of my personality. I actually find that humorous that someone (that would be me) would spends my whole life apologizing for pretty much living has always thought that being Type A was a good thing and find out at 55 years old that evidently it is not. Big aha moment. I guess that's why I never minded when I had the nickname Miss Anal Retentia and others were embarrassed when I found out?
Anyway....back to FITNESS goals.
The Azure Co-Captain suggested we take the Spark Fitness test this week and I did.
It is comprised of how many crunches you can do in a minute, how many push-ups you can do in a minute, your heart rate following step-ups on a 12" step for 3 minutes and 1 minute resting period and a 1 mile walk....I am in the excellent to above average range as I recall on all but I was disappointed in my walk time. I used to be the second fastest walker in the InMotionFit San Diego walking group and prided myself on that and now I'm just a walker. :::sigh::: Room to improve!!!!! There is a new app - MapMyDogwalk that I downloaded for Maggie and I. BTW, Maggie is less fit than I am and she isn't even 2 yet!
I worked my program last week (other than journalling and measuring). The bike rack is NOT on my car as I need assistance. Maybe today but I'm not holding my breath.
I am not back in the pool and don't see that happening just yet. Not excuses, just not ready yet. Too much going on at home with the house/move etc.
I logged a lot of miles on my bike.
About those baby guns....my arms are GROSS and summer is HERE. Feeling those 50 pushups I did in the aforementioned fitness test.
I started a wonderful new program with Yuri Elkaim this week The Amazing Abs Solution. It is a great core workout and I am enjoying it so far.
One of the Azuritas mentioned someone on her Spark page that led me web wandering and I ended up buying a book yesterday The Swing! Lose The Fat and Get Fit....KETTLEBELLS! Am I the last to learn about kettlebells? So once I got over the sticker shock (they are spendy) I read the book last night and I am ready to rock my new kettlebells. I've heard about them and been interested but after reading about them in Tim Ferriss' The 4 Hour Body I am on board for a couple workouts a week to help me with these sad, old lady arms.
There you have it....the Amazing Abs Solution is 3-4x a week, 2x a week for the kettlebell workouts to start, I spin/ride 4-5x a week and I add in some zumba and lots of stretching and that, dear spark friends is where I am fitness wise right now. There is also a lot of unintentional soul workouts in digging in the dirt here in the two acre woods, playing with Maggie, walking Maggie, working her in her training and such.
Bring it!!!!
