From Funk to Spark
Sunday, May 06, 2012
Today I woke up in a blue funk. This happens sometimes, especially when I am exhausted. I use the acronym H.A.L.T.- Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired. These aren't the only status checks I take, but just saying "HALT" reminds me to stop and evaluate my mood.
Usually I am able to make the necessary changes, but today I struggled to elevate my attitude. I no longer tolerate wasted days so I decided to log back onto Spark. I looked at my friend feed and responded to a motivating blog by a friend who is preparing for a 1/2 marathon. I told her I would get up off my duff and take a short run. I did just that at 6 p.m. After my run, I found a blog by another friend who was having difficulty motivating herself to stay on track today. I responded to her blog by relating to her "funk" and sending some encouraging words.
By 7 p.m. I had been Sparked! I felt so much better and I owe it all to Sparkpeople (and a very tolerant and supportive husband).
Thank you, my friends, for always being a positive and honest force in my life.
I was even Sparked to notice a wild flower beginning to bloom in our lemon tree barrel..........
