22 Weeks Pregnant

I have not blogged in a very long time. There has been so much going on in my life. I am happy to say that I am 22 weeks pregnant and have continued to maintain an active lifestyle by working out 5 days a week!
Work has been very hectic over the past 5 months since we had a someone quit. I and my co-worker have been taking 50/50 call every other week since then. I work as an full-time ultrasound tech and on top of that take call in the evenings and weekends every other week. It has been rough I'll admit. I sometimes want to scream when I'm sound asleep and have to drive 30 minutes to the hospital for an emergency in the middle of the night. Sometimes I have to work the next day too! My diet has not been as great as I had hoped with the convenience of fast food on days that I'm too exhausted to cook or get off too late. Plus it's easy to eat horrible when you're tired and use the I'm pregnant excuse. We recently hired a couple of techs who are now in training and can hopefully begin taking call in a month. This will be an awesome relief.
I am starting to feel the baby move and kick daily which is such a good feeling. Before I could feel this, I often wondered if I was really pregnant cuz I felt perfectly normal. Working in ultrasound has been a perk since I get to see the baby anytime that I want! It's a boy and he is getting so big and strong. His heartrate is typically in the 140 to 150's. He's an active little thing and is always is a different position!
My husband and I are super excited to become parents for the first time. It has been difficult thinking of names, but I think I've got a couple of good ones narrowed down! We want to stick with an A name because both of our names start with A. It's been kind of hard to find good ones cuz there are not that many cute A names for boys.
My doctor recommended that I gain between 25-35lbs total during my pregnancy. But my goal is to gain 25 lbs or less total due to being overweight prior to pregnancy. Prior to pregnancy I weighed 182 lbs so that means I want to stay under 207 lbs by the end of my pregnancy. I need to start paying more attention to what I am eating and making sure that I'm not eating too many carbs, sodium and empty calories. I also need to definitely eat more veggies (they are not as appealing now that I'm pregnant!)
My workouts have consisted of Turbo Fire, Turbo Jam, Zumba, Walking, Elliptical, and strength training. I recently ordered a few more Turbo Jam DVD's to add to my collection. I am so happy that I have continued to exercise during my pregnancy. It makes me feel healthy, lifts my mood, and shows me that I am capable of so much more than I think.
My only complaint so far has been that my breasts are huge. In 5 and a half months, I have already gone up 2 cup sizes and 1 band size. I am a big busted girl anyway and now it is just extreme. I really hope this stops because the weight of my breasts is just too much for my back! I have been scheduling monthly pre-natal massages which helps for while but the discomfort and back pain is constant.
Each day I grow more and more attached to my baby and can't wait to meet him! I want to continue to blog to keep myself accountable as well as have a place to reminisce my pregnancy after he is born.
