I pressed the Making Progress button!

Saturday, May 05, 2012

For the first time in a very long time I was able to press the "I am making progress" button on my huddles! emoticon I have not actually lost that much weight but my clothes are fitting so much better than this time last week. emoticon I can now breathe in my shirts again. emoticon
I have been faithful to my low carb diet style this week and am reaping the results. I have been really discovering what works and what doesn't for me. emoticon I still am not where I should be for veggies and my calorie level is very low most days but seems to be good for me.
I am riding my recumbent bike 30minutes most days and walk when I can. I had some difficulties with the sciatic arthritis and A-Fib this week so I have taken it a little easier. emoticon I have seen that the heat emoticon will be harder for me to deal with this year so I am going to keep with the plan and hope to give my heart and lungs a break.
I am so loving my challenges and teams and so many new and long standing Spark Friends are keeping me going.
emoticon to all and may your week be as rewarding to you as mine has been to me. emoticon

So sorry I got unsubscribed to your blogs, I just resubscribed via email. Hope it works.
Have you ever been cardioverted for the A=fib??? Just wondering, as an RN I have done it on many a patient while working in ICUs.
You are doing well, much better with exercise than near a couple years ago. Sparking I know really helps with the growth.
Right now I believe, actually self diagnosed, an RN problem, self diagnosed myself with mild heart failure, and will be discussing this issue with my MD on my next appt in next week or two, have to see calendar to know when.
I have thought of you many times in the past, with the challenges you face compared to those of mine, mine are paltry compared to yours, yet you are succeeding, maybe slowly, but you are getting better. That's so awesome.

Love that you're making progress as you said!!! You're my role model! emoticon

It's been really hot here in KS so far - what's with this? I, too, am realizing I'm going to have to exercise inside and be careful when the sun's really out. Guess I may use that Y membership after all.

I really admire your diligence and tenacity in sticking to your plan - WAY TO GO!!!

I've been really busy lately, so I don't always get to my DGOTD emails. I'm really glad I read it today and found your page. The springy background made my day. Plus, your non-scale victory inspired me! I'm glad the clothes are fitting better.

Have a great weekend!!

Hope you can keep your cool by exercising indoors with the a/c. I end up doing that in the summer, too, as we are near the desert.
Congratulations on making progress! That is a wonderful thing. Inches count and how we feel counts at least as much or more than the actual numbers on the scale.
Spark On! You're doing great! emoticon
Friending you back! emoticon

Great work, Nola! Glad you are feeling positive about the changes and your progress. I agree...you probably do need more calories in order to keep your metabolism moving along. It seems counter-intuitive, I know, but our bodies really do need enough calories to work efficiently! Hugs, Jeannie

Get those calories up, missy! That could be the reason that the weight isn't coming off despite your hard work.

Do you have a good heavy-duty blender? I find that drinking my fruits and veggies all blended up together makes it easier to get in my five+ a day. I've had some pretty interesting combinations, but I think the best start with orange juice, banana and strawberries, with carrots and spinach thrown in for the veggies. Sometimes there's mango, sometimes pineapple for sweetness; sometimes chia seed or protein powder or almond milk for protein or calcium. Depending on what I put in it, it's between 175 and 275 calories, which ought to help your low count!

And don't knock the spinach in it 'til you've tried it. I thought it would be dreadful, but you can't even taste it.
