My marathon training program required I run 8 miles today. I did it. Actually, it was more like 8.5 miles. I went a little farther just in case my GPS was off--they're not 100% accurate. I haven't run 8 mikes since last October when I did a half marathon. After that, I spent the winter focused on learning to swim. So, doing 8 miles again is quite an accomplishment. I took very slow. I averaged 13 min/mile. Even though it was at a snail's pace, I feel good about the run. I know as I continue to train for my first marathon, my endurance will improve and my time will decrease.
Tomorrow's crosstrainig will conclude week one of marathon training, only 17 weeks left to go.
