So at the beginning of this journey to a healthier me, I set out a reward plan: Weight based Milestones and Weekly Goal Rewards. The Weight based Milestone rewards are based on weight loss. At every 5 on the scale (180, 175, 170, 165, etc) I wrote down what my non-food reward would be. The first was a trip to a local day spa for a facial and make - up lesson. One month later, I've reached the next milestone!!!!
This reward was to buy some of the make-up that the make-up artist recommended. Last night, I got into my car and headed down to the local ULTA where I found about 70% of the stuff she recommended. I experimented this morning and WOW. Just a few small things and my eyes now *PoP* It's amazing. I was never a girly-girl. But this is great. And it's perfect too as just a few small things build self-confidence and that makes me even more excited about living a healthier life.
So for those of you that haven't thought about your reward milestones, or committed to writing them down, I encourage you to give it some thought. Think about things that compliment your journey. I have weight based milestones and weekly rewards if I meet all of my goals.
Some suggestions for weekly rewards - Put $5 in a jar every week you meet your goals. Buy a new book or magazine about healthy living. Or a new cookbook. Try out a new recipe. Something simple easy and fun.
My weekly goals are pretty simples 1) Drink 8 glasses of water a day; 2) 1,000 calorie deficit a day; 3) Exercise for 30 minutes 6 times a week. It's the last one that does me in most weeks. But heh. I'm working on it.
As for weight based milestones - these things are a little more. New make-up, new skirt or dress. New lingerie. New bikini. A new piece of jewelry. Things that showcase this healthier me. And they are all related to rewarding my journey with something that makes me feel more *WOW*
