Dinner & a run

Saturday, May 05, 2012

Not together, tho. We went out for the first time in almost a month last night. We went to a local diner; too many choices! I went there planning on an omelet & hash browns, but that pretty much flew out the window when confronted with all the great (but not so healthy) choices.

I settled on a monte cristo with a side of sweet potato fries. Hey, I haven't eaten out in a really long time, remember! I brought home half the meal as the bread slices were HUGE!

This morning I had the first session with my HM training group. It's smaller than I thought it would be - maybe 10 people in the HM group? There's also a full marathon group. I spent most of the time running by myself . . . The run/walk group is a bit slower than me, but the group that ran was faster. I kept up with them maybe 3/4 of a mile & only did 2 miles (finishing up at my own, slow pace).

I haven't completely decided whether or not to join the run/walk group, since these will be my long, slow runs. One of the main reasons I joined was to hopefully take some time off my HM times.

It will be interesting to see which group you end up sticking with. Here's to shaving some time off your miles.

Oh but that would have been so fun and efficient ;-)
Geez, I haven't had a monte cristo in about 20 years. I bet that was good.
I think going with the run/walk group for the LSRs would be a good thing since they are supposed to be SLOW. You can do your speedy stuff on your own....but that's my two cents which you can obviously take or leave.

Mmmm.... sweet potato fries. Sounds like you're right in between the two groups. Is there a leader for the groups who can give you advice about increasing your speed? Maybe it's good that you try to keep up with the faster group for as long as you can. Push yourself a bit... and then join the walk/run group for the rest? I know you'll work it out either way.

There are a few things I miss from the East Coast, and diners are among them. I loved diner food when I stayed with my cousin
awhile ago. Have a fun weekend.
