Day 75 : small victory

Saturday, May 05, 2012

Yesterday I had to do some grocery shopping, mostly vegetables and fruits so I went to the fruit market, because they have a better choice in organic food. Unfortunately inside of the fruit market, which is inside a mall, right beside the food court (A&W, NY Fries, muffins, Starbucks, M&M, etc...) there is a french bakery. I used to stop there each time I was going to grab a raisin and cream danish, an apple turnover or an almond muffin...
So yesterday my whole body/brain is screaming for a raisin and cream danish (my favorites)... I buy my spinach, my broccoli, my Boston lettuce, my Italian parsley, my cherry tomatoes, my strawberries, and I head to the pastry shop... The guy came right away not leaving me the time to turn over to leave, or to think. I bought a chocolate chip cookie and a maple muffin.
Then I headed to the cashier, but before that I needed something else, so I stopped at the Golden Delicious apples aisle, bagged one, and went to pay.
The cookie was for my daughter after daycare, and the muffin was for my husband for his breakfast... But as I was hungry too, so I bought myself a very good organic apple. And I love it!
This is the 1st time that happens! Small victory, but so big for my mental, it is proving me that I can do it. I suppose I still needed a proof that I was not a total looser or something... And this small apple, this "oh so delicious" apple is the proof that I am not a looser... I can do it! And you can do it too!

That is an absolutely HUGE victory. It is these moment by moment conscious and aware decisions that make the big goals happen.

And just think! It wasn't just when you chose the apple that you had victories. It was all the way home. Boy I've had those times when I would have eaten those gifts and they never would have been the wiser.

You stayed true to yourself. I how you loved your apple and I hope you were conscious of how great it made you feel. Best of all perhaps it made you feel great to stay on your path of health.

That's is awesome! Congratulations! 'Small' mental victories always make you feel good because they're slowely getting you over the food hurdle and closer to your goal. You should be VERY proud of yourself :) remember this feeling and how good you felt if you're ever tempted!
