March for Dimes complete!

Friday, May 04, 2012

I started out the day in a hurry! My sister and I were taking our daughters to get our pictures taken. My daughter is two and her is 6 months. Of course my sister, Queen of being late, was late! She asked if we could go ahead to the appointment as we live only 20 minutes instead of an hour away. For pictures taken and they were SO cute! I am a very indecisive person so it took me awhile before I could pick what pictures I wanted!

We went to lunch at Jose Peppers. It was only my second time there but it is amazing!! We enjoyed some Espinaca dip! Yum!

We got to the Zoo in time to register, get our braclets, and head to start. My sister went with us as well as a friend of mine. We started out, it was 90 degrees and so humid, and about a quarter of a mile into the race there was a split. You could do the short walk or the long walk. We chose the long walk with about 1/8 of everyone that was walking. We kept walking the route mapped out while at every turn people were taking short cuts. We finished the TWO mile walk in 40 minutes. We kept it at a good pace once we left most of the walkers. We stopped a few times but were definitely not walking for time! After walking just two miles in the humidity we had I was sweating pretty good. I liked the route we did and if I am in Topeka more often I may have to walk it again! It was pretty!!

Does anyone else have a March for Dimes event coming up?
