Couch to 5K Day 1

Friday, May 04, 2012

Well I began the C25k yesterday. My son, who runs cross country, thought it was hilarious. I have found that its not my legs that get tired or anything when I run, its my aerobic capacity. Today will be a good day because its "rest" day. Tomorrow I'll have to get up early to do it since we're heading to Chicago for the day. I have never been a runner, so I'm curious to see if this program really does work!

The reason I'm doing this is because everyone on Sparkpeople is inspiring me!

I am a sixty one year old woman who couldn't run at all. Now I have completed 2 runs of week 4!! I can't believe that I have come this far! The program definitely seems to be working for me as long as I do what they say!
These blogs are great support for me also. Thanks for everyones input on how they are doing!

Yes...I definitely need to remember to watch my breathing. So sad to be so winded after such a short time to run! I walk all the time but there is sure a difference between that and running.

Its nice to know there are people that understand!

Thanks!!!

emoticon Good for you!!! Today is my Day 2 (yesterday was "rest day") so we will see how it goes - gotta just keep pushing ourselves!!!

Remember - inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth - it really does help :)

Keep up the awesome work!!

Congrats on starting c25k!!! I am on week 6 of it. I have exactly the same reaction, especially in the early weeks...my legs aren't tired, but I feel like my lungs are going to explode. Especially the when I do a new C25k workout for the first time. I keep being able to move forward in the program, though, so it must really be working.

I have also never been able to run at all, ever, so I'm with you there too. It also makes me feel a little sometimes (my boyfriend's dad said "5k? I used to run that far at lunch every day!" Ugh.) but everyone's gotta start somewhere.

I hope it works out for you! emoticon
