Really Getting Up My Nose!!

Friday, May 04, 2012

When someone, or something, bothers me I often use the expression, "That's really getting up my nose!"

Who knew that I was anticipating the latest weight-loss craze: nasal-gastric tube feeding.

This is definitely a development that further refines just walking around munching those 100 calorie snack packs (x 15 a day). Or perpetually sipping on a smoothie, latte, juice box, bottle of vitamin water.

Too much work, really. All that munching. All that sipping. You wanna get ready for bikini season? For your wedding? For some other important event??

Why not just hook up to an 800 calorie bag of nutrients supplied all day long through the . . . ummmmm . . . . nose!

Here's a truly hilarious article on this latest trend. Don't think I'll be signing on anytime soon myself. Although I love the idea of colour coordinating the tube to whatever outfit . . . maybe a few sparkly charms too?? Looking good yet??

Yeah I saw that. Pretty sick. :-/

TPN is never good, even when it's there to keep you alive in the hospital. And soooooo attractive! LOL

Wow, I am at a loss for words. I shudder to think of what is next as there clearly will be a next,
I like the comment for the bride and groom at the alter-you can now remove the bride's nasal tube. A little humour desperately needed for a ghastly solution to weight loss.
I don't find this funny. I find this really upsetting. Just awful.

Unreal! What won't they think of next?? Can't imagine that at all. While my breakfast is usually always liquid in the form of a fruit shake, I do sometimes have bread or cereal with it and would miss whole food for sure. Not surprised this was started in Europe..
Good nutrition and exercise will never go out of style as its a provenlong term winner..

You make me laugh! But believe me, a meal up the nose is no picnic! Seen too many that have gone thru similar crap! NO fun! (My daughter just spent the last month sipping thru her clamped teeth a LIQUID diet and believe me its hard to eat let alone brush your teeth when your on a liquid diet... and the worst taking liquid medication! Try rubber banding your jaw closed. No fun taking stuff up the nose! lol susana

It's sort of the opposite of a holistic approach, isn't it?

I can't even imagine this. i had a nasal tube when I had my gall bladder attack and it was awful. I just gagged and gagged until they medicated me. Yuck.

And I didn't think it could get any worse than the liquid shakes thing! Ew, indeed. I love food too much to deprive myself of healthy, wonderful, nutritious choices that one can still make AND get to / maintain a healthy weight.

Oh, gross. What some people won't do. Okay. Okay. I've tried some pretty ridiculous things myself, so I best not judge. I am just so glad that you and I have learned we can do it through - believe it or not - good nutrition and exercise. -Marsha

    Wow, that's special!

Through the nose?!?! Why couldn't they do it through an IV or something more... normal?

You know, if people are going to demand it anyway...

First I heard of that but I agree with the other comments - this is BAD NEWS!

Companies do not care about people they only want their money and they will stop at nothing to get it! and as TG says - $1,500!!! OMG

I know, crazy, uh? I have a hard time with the doctors who are prescribing it! Hard not to judge it, but I just can't get on board with it.

I also saw this awhile ago on the news..and was disgusted by it...

What will they think of next? I could just mix up some calf electolyte solution and use the gut tube bag..that works through the mouth or nose and slurp away...mooo...it's my redneck version of the trend and I have all the stuff on hand..haha

    Not my idea of FUN!!
