I finally got back to dancing last night. Argentine Tango classes have started up again. It was great! If only all exercise could be this much fun.
I checked out the calories burned using the cardio tracker (using slow foxtrot, waltz etc) and for 45 minutes it was 252. It doesn't seem like many calories but it certainly beats sitting on the sofa all night. The session lasted an hour but there is a fair amount of standing around and watching the demonstrations.
If I ever win the lottery then one of the first things I will do is book regular private lessons. It may not burn as many calories as Zumba but its great fun and I get to do something with Claire.
I am now doing three regular energetic activities a week (2x karate and 1x Argentine tango). If I can keep to doing 2 sessions at home each week as well I should hopefully see some improvement in my health. It is already improving my happiness.
