Walk Training Update

Friday, May 04, 2012

I am still doing well on my training. I walked 3 miles tonight and then I have a rest day tomorrow. Did my cross training yesterday. I need some better ideas as to what to do on my cross training days, I'm not too good at that part of it yet but I want to learn because this is going to be something that is ongoing, not to be over once the Avon Walk is completed!
I have my first 7 miles this Saturday, I even used the map router to figure it out so I know exactly where I will be going. That is the neatest thing! It was easy when I was doing 2 miles, just walk in one direction for a mile, turn around, and come home! Not so uncomplicated any more!
I will be going up to Keystone on May 19th to do a "mock walk" for the Walk. It is a minimum of 8.5 miles and you can go further if you want, or maybe I should say if you can! It is a scheduled thing through Avon so there will be other walkers there that day and I am looking forward to it very much! My first chance to be mingling with some of the other people who will be there in June, it's a bit....ok maybe more than that...scary for me, but this is what this is about. Learning to spread my wings and being a whole, healthy person!
I did a bake sale at work this last week, I took some stuff in and left it at the front so folks could enjoy and donate. It did pretty good! I ended up getting $30.00 in donations, and every little bit helps!
I am going to post the link at the bottom of this blog. It is for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk for Life that I have registered for that will be taking place on June 23rd and 24th. I will be walking 26.2 miles on Saturday and 13.1 miles on Sunday. I need to raise $1800 before I will be allowed to do the walk, and at this point I have $467. I can use all the help I can get here! Those out there who can help, I would appreciate it very much! Whatever you can give, if it is one dollar, I appreciate anything. Please know that there is no amount that is too small, because it really does all add up. If it sounds like I'm getting into begging mode here, I kind of am. This is a very good cause, this is something that has touched an incredibly large number of folks, and I REALLY want to be able to go on this walk! If you can give, please do.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, love you all!
