Circuit Short Circuit

Okay, remember when I said I was going to change to full body circuit workouts to concentrate on fat burning? Well big surprise, I'm not enjoying it.

The whole time I'm going through those weight/cardio cycles I'm wishing I was doing pure strength. The weight segments don't seem hard/heavy enough and just when I get my pump, we're switching back to cardio. It could just be me but when I'm lifting I get in kind of a "zen" zone and the intermittent cardio in these circuit workouts just shatter that for me.

I'm surprised because I really like Cathe's Boot Camp, Cardio & Weights and Circuit Blast so I figured I'd enjoy her other harder circuit dvds but now I'm doing High Step Training and High Step Challenge and they're just not doing it for me. Maybe its just those DVDs emoticon.

I still enjoy Cathe's Low Impact Series but even when I increase the impact, they're just not hard enough.

STS has been whispering my name since I started these circuit workouts so I'll try one of those tomorrow. If I like it better then I think I'll do another round of that or I'll do Cathe's split routines and do pure cardio every other day emoticon.

Oh, I forgot, RECIPE SHARE emoticon.

    You usually work out hard so I can understand, STS has that effect once you've become comfort with them but hang in there with it. Think balance especially if fat burning is the main focus right now. Give some thought to modifying the cardio portion to meet your current workout level. emoticon

    What about Gym Style? I think you need more of a challenge. For me, the full-body workouts, like Jari Love are perfect for me right now and they challenge me, so I have some room to grow with them. I have the High Step Circuit workout and that one is somewhat of a challenge to me, I didn't think I could do it, but it wasn't as hard as I thought, so I can see why this one would be easy for you, but for the High Step Training, I want this one, it will definitely be a challenge for me.

Good luck with finding what works for you. Did you ever get the Les Miller workouts or Supreme 90?

    I can see the dilemma. I wonder if you are just so strong you really need to increase the weights significantly. Is this a time for the weighted vest? I personally have had more fun with kettle bells than with normal circuits. I especially like Jillian's Shred it with weights (available on the netflix to test drive it.) but that might not be enough of a challenge. What about going back to pyramids? (Cathe's) or 4DS? You can definitely lift heavy in 4DS. I like circuits, I think that they are fun, but of late I've been keeping the two separate, I do plenty of cardio at a different time from my strength and flexibility training. I prefer to be focused.
