Yesterday, for my marathon training I needed to run 5 miles. Normally on Wednesdays I run with my friend Robin; however, she hadn't arrived at my house by 8:15 as expected. I debated if I should just go or try to call her. Finally, after waiting ten minutes I took off. I ran a little over half a mile when I heard someone calling my name from behind. It was Robin. She parked the car along our route. Good thing I'm a creature of habit. She knew exactly where to find me. Her company made the run go much faster. Not because we ran faster--we didn't. But it's fun having someone to talk to. It helps to get me out of my head. Even though I usually listen to music while running, I still can easily block out the music and get caught up in negative self talk. I sometimes can psych myself out into thinking I can't run anymore. So having her there made me stay focused on running.
I noticed I almost psyched myself out on today's 3 mile run. Today, it was more humid which always makes it hard for me to run. I ran a shorter distance today but I felt like walking. I fought the urge and said just run s-l-o-w-e-r. So, I got through it. Tomorrow is a rest day. I'll need it because Saturday I have to run 8 mile.
