Stress, snacks, and sneaky calories

Here's my "True Confession for the Week": Yesterday I was feeling stressed and I "needed" a treat. So, in the a.m. I ate a very small breakfast at home (less than 200 calories) knowing full well that I planned to go pick up a little sweet something at Dunkin' Donuts where I was going to buy coffee. WELL, this is a prime example of how having the information at your finger tips can help!! I would usually (the old me, pre-SP) pick an item that I felt was "good" or "diet-like" or "healthy", such as the low-fat blueberry muffin. Now (the new me--very SPARKly) I knew that I was going to use my iPhone to check out just how many calories were in the various offerings at DDs. Lo and behold, the "low-fat" item had almost double the calories as a cake donut!! whoa! Good thing I can make better choices now. I wanted a whole wheat glazed donut, but they didn't have that. So I chose the blueberry glazed (which is similar). For less than 300 calories, I had a sweet treat that satisfied my craving and then I went on to have an excellent day---and I stayed within my calorie range I might add!!

This is a perfect example of why SP makes me so happy!! I have always eaten well, made good choices, and tried to eat "right"~~but for the past 2 years or so~~my weight has gone up, up, up. Now, I can see why. I understand how many calories I need, I know (and have always known) that I need to move my body more, and by putting some small changes in place--I'm beginning to see results.

The moral of this True Confession~~if you're going to "stress snack"~~you can do it~~ just don't let sneaky calories derail your progress!!

    Good for you! I love my mobile app! It has saved me countless hours of regret and more exercise time working off that "healthy" sounding item. My sister wanted me to go to O'Charley's with her one day for lunch. She said I could get the salad. Didn't sound like a bad plan ... until I found out the only salad there I like was something absolutely insane like 1200 calories. If I ate that I wouldn't be able to have another thing all day. No thanks. I don't like salads THAT much! LOL.
