Listen & Obey

Thursday, May 03, 2012

I have been through the cycle of eating healthy trying to lose weight, losing a few pounds and back to eating wrong again. I have been taught what to eat and how much of it to eat but actually doing it is the hard part. But until we do what we know to do nothing will change. God teaches us then test us, if we pass the test we go on to the next lesson, if not we are taught again and retested. We will continue this cycle until we learn and do what we know. So we not only listen but we also obey. That is when the magic happens, the peace comes, that is where victory is found. I have decided to make a commitment to God that I will not eat junk food for the next 30 days. I started this April 22, 2012 and as of April 30th I have lost 6.3lbs. Can you believe it? How many times I have tried and tried, followed diets exactly as I should in my own strength and never, I say never have I lost 6.3lbs in a week, but when I make it a commitment to God and nothing about the actual weight but just doing what I know is right, which is feeding my body healthy food and staying away from junk food. This is when God saw my heart and realized I had really given to Him this time and He took off 6.3lbs. Thank you with all my heart Lord!!! Please allow this time to be THE time for me!! I will do what I can and God will do what I can't! :-)

My husband and I taught a course at church a couple of years ago by Dave Ramsey, called "Financial Peace University". Dave says that knowledge is only 20% of success; the other 80% is applying what you know to your own situation. The Bible says in James 1:22 that we should be doers of the Word and not hearers only. We can hear but without doing what we hear we do not experience success. You are hearing and doing what God says will make for a successful weight loss journey!
