I did it! I went back to the gym today! My physical therapist said that I could, as long as I didn't overdue it. So I went on the elliptical for 15 minutes, walked the track for 20 at a 15 min/mile pace, and then did a few strength exercises she recommended.
Interestingly enough, what she recommended for a bad hamstring is to do exercises for your butt! That's right, the old gluteus maximus. Apparently, with women, the way our legs fit into our hips pulls our knees in toward each other, putting extra strain on the hamstring, and if you have a strong gluteus maximus, that works to pull the knees more straight, thus lessening the strain on the hammies. Who knew? And in one of today's newsletters, there was a "5 minutes a day to a better butt" fitness plan with 7 different exercises for strengthening that big ol' muscle. Yeah!
I have also stayed within my calories for the last two days. Today may be hard because I went to coffee and had several minimuffins. I still have up to 600 calories left, so I can do it if I'm careful.
Maybe this time I'm REALLY back on track.
An interesting sidelight. A friend who has a broken elbow

said that she has been ravenous for sweets. Is it possible that when you are injured you crave sweets? Because I have also been ravenous for sweets for the last 6 weeks, and the last couple of days not so much...perhaps I'll do some research on this.
