Grassroots struggle for GMO labeling

Wednesday, May 02, 2012

I just read PENNYAN45's blog about GMO labeling, and I decided to write my own. It angers me that the labeling of Genetically Modified Organisms requested by so many citizens has been blocked by the threats and political manipulation of companies like Monsanto. I was glad to read that there's a grassroots movement in California to require the labeling of genetically modified food. We have a right to know what we're eating!

Dr. Mercola has written several articles about the dangers of genetically modified food. You can find them on his site.

I find it is easier to avoid gmo if I buy organic seeds and don't eat grains, but I am concerned about what meat animals are eating, and that probably will never be labelled.

Thanks for drawing this to our attention. If anyone can get the ball rolling, it should be California with its boatload of celebs.

Thanks for this info Rejj. And if this does succeed in California, I wonder if it will have effects in Canada too? I hope so.

I hope the campaign succeeds! This is SO vital and SO important, and absolutely outrageous that Monsanto & Co can get away with stuff like that!!!! Spread the message, spread the Spark!

I just looked at this link - and found it very interesting.
I did not realize that California was also in the midst of a fight for labeling. That is good news. California is a much larger and more powerful state than Connecticut.
I hope we can all succeed -- in spite of the campaign funds offered to some state lawmakers.
Thanks for writing about this!
